The Point Of Life: Are You Alive? Commentary

For those who don't know, Blue Valley Northwest will be hosting an FCA-sponsored event called The Point Of Life: Are You Alive? on Friday, March 30th from 7 - 9 PM! This will be an evangelistic outreach for Christian students to invite their unsaved friends where there will be an opportunity for students to receive prayer and salvation! Did I mention it is happen at Blue Valley Northwest High School?! As much as I love doing events in church buildings, I love getting on a school campus at every opportunity, and this is a big opportunity!

The genius, in my opinion, of this event is in its design. The outreach is sponsored by the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club at Blue Valley Northwest (BVNW). With a local sponsor, use the building is FREE, the district fronts the liability insurance, and the outreach can be advertised in the school during the school day! We're talking posters, morning announcements, fliers, all during the school day! 

The one obstacle is that since the event is being hosted by BVNW, students from other school districts cannot attend. We originally wanted to open the event to all school districts to include Olathe and Shawnee Mission students, but that proved to be more difficult and expensive. Thus, any of our Christian campus ministries in Olathe could decide to host the outreach in their school district, and any campus ministry in Shawnee Mission could host it in their district to reach their students!

My hope is that other school districts will take this idea and replicate it! It keeps it simple, cheap (cheap as free) and nothing beats advertising on campus during the school day! So while we can't include all of the school districts in one event, it is even better to put the event on their campuses, making is personal, and increasing attendance from that district.

So Blue Valley is first, hopefully next semester (the fall) will be Olathe, and who knows after that! We're taking it one step at a time, assessing after every event to improve in every way we can!

If you don't attend a Blue Valley School, your participation still matters greatly in this event. We are inviting you to pray for this event on a regular basis. We don't just want people to attend, we want to them get saved! Join with us in prayer contending for a great harvest in Kansas City! Who knows? Maybe a great harvest could start in Blue Valley and spread to the surrounding school districts!
